What they do

NEURA Robotics develops robots that are meant to perceive and react to their surroundings rather than repeat a fixed routine. Its range includes collaborative robot arms, autonomous mobile robots for intralogistics, a household and service robot and the 4NE1 humanoid. Built-in vision, touch and voice sensing allow the machines to work near people, and a software layer called the Neuraverse links robots, AI models, applications and outside developers.

Why it matters

The global race in humanoid and general-purpose robots is dominated by American and Chinese companies, and NEURA is one of Europe's most ambitious answers. It argues that robots need cognition, not just motion control, and it has invested in its own sensors and an AI foundation model to that end. The latest 4NE1 generation, launched at the opening of its NEURA Gym training centre in Munich, is lighter and runs on that new central brain.

The company has also grown by acquisition, taking over a control cabinet maker, the automated guided vehicle business ek robotics and a vehicle electronics development unit, all in 2025. That gives it manufacturing and engineering depth that many robotics start-ups lack, along with a broader product base in factories and warehouses.

Products to know

  • 4NE1: the humanoid robot, now in its fourth generation, with a smaller 4NE1 Mini.
  • MAiRA: a cognitive collaborative robot arm with 3D vision and voice recognition.
  • LARA: a lightweight collaborative arm for simpler tasks.
  • MiPA: a service and household robot designed to assist people.

The German angle

David Reger founded the company in Metzingen in 2019, initially as Han's Robot Germany, renaming it NEURA Robotics in 2020. Metzingen, south of Stuttgart, sits in the heart of Swabian mechanical engineering, among automotive suppliers and machine builders who are both potential customers and a source of skilled staff. NEURA's training centres, including one with RWTH Aachen, tie it into German academic robotics research, and its rise reflects a wider bet that Germany's industrial base can be a launch pad for physical AI.
